The Painted Horse Winery & Vineyards, 13762 Hopewell Rd, Milton, GA 30004, USA

About the event

There's a small window every October when a pumpkin is at its absolute best — carved early enough to sit on your porch for weeks, but not so early that it caves in before the trick-or-treaters arrive. This is that window, and we're spending it together.

Carve or Paint on Friday, October 16, anytime between 4pm - 7pm — the kind of low-pressure fall evening where kids get their hands messy, grown-ups get a glass of wine, and everyone leaves with something they made themselves.

Who this is for

Whether you're bringing the whole family, meeting a friend for a low-key Friday night, planning a date that isn't dinner-and-a-movie or coming solo because you've been wanting to try your hand at a real jack-o'-lantern, you'll fit right in. All ages are welcome, and there's no artistic experience required — if you can hold a marker, you can do this. Prefer to keep your hands clean? Painting is every bit as welcome as carving.

What actually happens

Drop in anytime between 4 and 7 PM. We'll set you up with a pumpkin and a workstation, then you choose your path: carve the classic way with our carving tools and stencils, or skip the guts entirely and paint with Crayola acrylic pumpkin paint.

Our stencils are the part we're most excited about — we've made a set inspired by the farm itself, including the Painted Horse logo, wine-country motifs, and cartoon versions of our own farm animals. Trace one on, cut or paint along the lines, and you've got a pumpkin nobody else on your street will have.

Work at your own pace. There's no class, no schedule, and no instructor telling you when to start. Wine and beer are available for purchase from the tasting room, so you can settle in and make an evening of it.

What you'll leave with

You'll walk out with a finished pumpkin you actually made — and if you paint rather than carve, it will likely still look great on Halloween night more than two weeks later. More than that, you'll have the photos, the sticky fingers, and the kind of easy October memory that's hard to manufacture at home on a Friday night.

What's included

  • One pumpkin, ready to carve or paint

  • Full set of carving tools

  • Crayola acrylic pumpkin paint and brushes

  • Stencils, including farm-animal designs

  • A workstation and cleanup handled by us

  • Access to the farm and grounds during your visit

Event details

  • Date: Friday, October 16 · 4–7 PM (drop in anytime)

  • Price: $40 per pumpkin — not per person, so a family or couple can share one

  • Want more than one? Add as many pumpkins as you like at $40 each

  • Duration: Roughly 45–90 minutes, entirely up to you

  • Ages: All ages welcome

  • What to bring: Nothing — everything is provided

  • Wine & beer: Available for purchase, not included in the ticket

  • Good to know: Arrive as late as 7 PM and take your time — the tasting room is open until 9 PM.

A note on timing

We chose the 16th on purpose. Carve too close to Halloween and you only get a few days with your pumpkin; carve now and it's on your porch for the whole back half of October.

EACH TICKET RESERVES 1 PUMPKIN

Never carved a real pumpkin before? That's exactly why to come. We provide the tools, the stencils, and the cleanup — all you bring is the idea.
