Loss has a way of changing the shape of everything. It reshapes your days, your priorities, and the questions you ask yourself in the quiet moments. For our family, that loss came in the form of our granddaughter Lucy—a life that was far too short, but profound in ways we're still discovering.
We've received an outpouring of support from our wine family over the past few months, and your kind words and messages have meant the world to us.
We knew we wanted Lucy's life to mean something more—to ripple outward and create good in the world she left behind. The Painted Horse Foundation is how we're keeping her memory alive.
Here's What We're Building
The Painted Horse Foundation is its own charitable organization, separate from the winery but born from the same family. The team building this foundation includes faces you already know from the vineyard—David and I, Lucy's parents, Cameron Jackson and Leah Jackson, and Lucy’s Aunt Juliette Johnson. We're small right now, still finding our way, but we're in this together.
Our mission is still taking its final shape, the website is still under construction—but the heart of it is clear: we're here to support families facing pregnancy and infant loss.
We're raising money for the Painted Horse Foundation by doing what we do best (wine!)
We'll be sharing more updates about where the money goes and the families it helps—because transparency matters to us.

Introducing Lucy Goosey Wine
When we decided to anchor this foundation's fundraising efforts with a wine, we knew exactly what to call it.
Lucy Goosey.
The first Lucy Goosey wine—Lucy Goosey Rosé—will be released on December 17, 2025. 100% of the profits from every bottle of Lucy Goosey wine sold will go directly into The Painted Horse Foundation's work.
Lucy Goosey is not a traditional rosé but rather a blended rosé. It's a blend of Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Cabernet Sauvignon for its color. Notes of summer fruit like apple, pear, citrus, and a little beeswax. It's fruit-forward, giving it a slight perception of sweetness. Medium-high acidity makes it linger on the finish.
Ways You Can Show Up With Us
Starting December 17th - stop by the tasting room to purchase a bottle of Lucy Goosey Rose. 100% of the profits will go to The Painted Horse Foundation.

This Is Just the Beginning
To everyone who has supported Painted Horse Winery over the years—thank you for being the kind of community that makes something like this possible. Thank you for showing up in the hard moments and proving that grief doesn't have to be faced alone.
This is just the beginning. We're so grateful you're here for it.
With love and hope,
The Painted Horse Family
