Mother's Day at Painted Horse Winery: How to Celebrate in Milton, GA (May 7 & 10, 2026)

- 5 min read

You've spent the last year driving carpool, managing schedules, and making sure everyone else is taken care of. Mother's Day at Painted Horse is the afternoon where someone finally takes care of you.
Painted Horse Winery is the first female-founded farm-winery in Georgia and is still owned & operated by Pamela, who is a mom and grandma, along with help from her daughter. Her own kids and grandkids have grown up on the estate - so if there's anyone who knows how to make you feel special, it's a family and team full of Moms.
We've got two ways to celebrate — a Thursday evening floral workshop and a full Sunday afternoon at the vineyard. Here's what each one looks like.
Mother's Day Floral Workshop with Anna Somerville — Thursday, May 7th

This isn't really about the flowers. It's about the two hours you spend making them — side by side with your mom, your daughter, your sister, or the friend who's become family.
Anna Somerville is back at the vineyard for a Thursday evening workshop three days before Mother's Day. She'll have peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, and seasonal greenery laid out and ready.
You'll learn how to build a real arrangement from scratch — not a craft project, but something you'd actually put on your dining table and be proud of.
But the part you'll actually remember? The conversation that happens while your hands are busy. The laughing when someone's arrangement starts leaning. The moment your mom says she's having the best time. That's why this works for Mother's Day — it gives you something to do together instead of sitting across from each other at a restaurant.
Everyone leaves with a finished arrangement and a container to take it home in. Grab a glass of wine from the tasting room before you settle in (not included in ticket price). Anna handles everything else.
The details:
When: Thursday, May 7th | 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Where: The Painted Horse Roundabout
Investment: $65 per person
Includes: Hands-on instruction from Anna Somerville (professional floral designer), all materials, and your finished arrangement to take home
Limited to 25 guests — small enough that Anna can walk you through every step and you never feel lost. These workshops sell out, and this one's timed perfectly for Mother's Day.
Perfect for: Mother-daughter duos (or trios — bring grandma), sisters celebrating together, daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law, or the friends who've become the mothers you needed. This is the gift that says I want to spend time with you — not just I bought you something.

Mother's Day at the Vineyard — Sunday, May 10th
Picture this: You're sitting on the patio with a glass of rosé, looking out over rows of vines and open pasture. There's a warm breeze. Someone else is handling the food. Nobody needs anything from you. Not right now. Not for the next hour. That's Mother's Day at Painted Horse.
The vineyard is open all afternoon with light bites available for purchase — boards, salads, paninis, and seasonal specials. Wine by the glass or bottle. The gift shop is open if your family still needs a last-minute save (we won't tell). But the real reason to come isn't the menu — it's the pace. There's no two-top crammed next to a stranger's table. No server rushing you through courses. Just space, beauty, and an afternoon that actually feels like a day off.
If you're the one planning this for your mom: This is the easiest gift you'll give all year. Reserve a table, drive her here, and let the vineyard do the rest.
The details:
When: Sunday, May 10th | 1:00 – 5:00 PM
Where: Painted Horse Winery, 13762 Hopewell Rd, Milton, GA 30004
Reservations: $5 per person (time slots available from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Menu: Light bites available for purchase — boards, salads, paninis, and seasonal specials
Reserve your table now — Mother's Day fills up, and this is the kind of afternoon that's worth planning ahead for.

Add a Cellar Tasting to Mother's Day Sunday — 1:00 PM
This is the hour Mom would never book for herself — and exactly the kind of thing she deserves.
Our wine steward guides a small group through three Painted Horse wines in the Cellar Room. Not a quick pour-and-move-on, but a real, unhurried tasting — the kind where you learn why you love what you love, pick up palate development tips you'll actually use, and have time to ask every question you've been holding onto since the last time you read a wine label.
It's intimate, it's indulgent, and it's the perfect way to start your afternoon before heading to your table reservation for light bites and the rest of the day on the patio.
The details:
When: Sunday, May 10th | 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Where: The Cellar Room
Investment: $50 per person
Includes: Guided tasting of 3 Painted Horse wines, educational insights into our winemaking process, tasting notes, and Q&A with our wine steward
Ages 21+ only | Advance reservations required
Great for a date-with-Mom afternoon, a small group of friends, or anyone who's been meaning to try a proper guided tasting.

The Gift That Keeps Showing Up: Fraunky Donkey Wine Club
Still need a Mother's Day gift? Give her a membership to the Fraunky Donkey Wine Club — named after our resident donkey and unofficial farm mascot. It's a bottle (or two) every month, a complimentary glass on pickup day, and a standing reason to come back to the vineyard. That's better than flowers.
Are you the mom? Send this link to whoever's still asking what you want. Or sign yourself up — you've earned it.
Each month, you pick your own bottle or let our winemaker choose for you. On pickup day, you get a complimentary glass while you're here. Members also get 10% off bottles on Fridays and exclusive invitations to events that aren't open to the general public.
Fraunky Donkey Uno — One bottle per month, one glass on pickup day, 10% off Friday bottles, and exclusive member event invitations.
Fraunky Donkey Dos — Two bottles per month, two glasses on pickup day, same 10% Friday discount and member-only event access.

However You Celebrate — Make It Hers
Maybe it's the floral workshop on Thursday, an evening making something beautiful with the people she loves most. Maybe it's a slow Sunday on the vineyard with nowhere to be. Maybe it's a Cellar Tasting followed by a long afternoon on the patio. Maybe it's all of the above.
However you celebrate, the point is the same: give her an afternoon that feels like it was designed around her — not around a reservation time, a set menu, or what's easiest to coordinate. She's spent the whole year making things easy for everyone else.
This one's hers.
