At Painted Horse Winery, we believe in the power of community—and that means celebrating the incredible Milton small businesses that make our area so special. Today, we're launching our Small Business Spotlight series, where we'll be featuring the amazing local entrepreneurs and partners who help create the unique experiences our guests love.
We're thrilled to kick off this series with Anna's Flowers, a Milton small business founded by a mom and entrepreneur whose workshops at our winery have become some of our most sought-after experiences. In fact, our floral workshops with Anna consistently sell out, often within days of opening registration.
Here's her story & details on how you can take one of her workshops here at Painted Horse.
From Backyard Blooms to Booming Business
"In the spring of 2023, I started a cut flower garden in my backyard. I got the idea to start gardening as a way to cope with my postpartum depression, but for someone who had never kept a plant alive and a full-time stay-at-home mom to two littles, this was out of my comfort zone....
But I am so glad I started because growing flowers brought so much happiness into my life and became such a joy-filled activity for me and my family.
After a summer of creating arrangements with the flowers I was growing in my backyard, I made another wild decision to start my own floral business. I was and still am learning as I go, but it’s incredibly fulfilling to bring happiness to my clients with my children by my side."
What began as personal healing evolved into a thriving business, offering deliveries, subscription programs, custom arrangements, and—her favorite—workshops where she connects with people while teaching the art of flower arranging.

The Perfect Partnership: Wine, Flowers, and Milton Community
When Anna first approached us about hosting a Galentine's Day workshop in early 2025, we knew immediately this would be something special for our community.
The combination of her warm teaching style, our handcrafted wines, and the natural beauty of our estate created an experience that sold out in no time and became an instant hit.
"The atmosphere at Painted Horse Winery makes the perfect setting for workshops," Anna tells us. "Making floral arrangements while sipping on a glass of wine and soaking up the natural beauty of the winery makes for the aesthetic evening we all need."
But it's more than just the setting. Anna's philosophy about flowers resonates deeply with our farm-to-glass approach: "I think the biggest purpose of flowers is to be a reminder that when we have something wonderful we should appreciate it. Flowers do not last forever but they are a great reminder to help us stay present in our lives."
This mindfulness approach perfectly captures what we strive to create in every wine tasting, every farm tour, and every gathering at Painted Horse. Supporting Milton small businesses like Anna's Flowers isn't just good for our community—it creates authentic experiences that our guests can't find anywhere else.

Getting to Know Anna: A Quick Q&A

What's your personal favorite type of arrangement to create?
"I love when a client wants something out of the box. My preferred style is more modern, whimsical, and colorful. This type of request allows me to really play with creativity and create a one-of-a-kind look."
What's the most creative arrangement you've ever made?
"It was for a Peter Rabbit-themed baby shower. I used real carrots and lots of colorful spring blooms, and even used rain boots as floral vessels!"
If you had to pair a flower arrangement with a Painted Horse wine, what would it be?
"I'd choose your Sauvignon Blanc with a ranunculus bouquet. These two scream summer to me and would be my preferred combo on a summer night."
What advice would you give someone hesitant about trying flower arranging?
"You won't get better if you don't try. Everyone was a beginner at one point, and if buying weekly flowers is what it takes to improve your floral skills, then I believe that's a financial sacrifice worth taking."
What do you love most about your work?
"The opportunity to be a part of people's special moments. It could be their wedding day, a new job, a new relationship, or a birthday. And usually my bouquet deliveries are to someone who isn't expecting flowers—their excitement always makes my day."

Looking Ahead: Seasonal Workshops Throughout the Year
As we plan future collaborations with Anna, we're excited about the seasonal possibilities—spring workshops with fresh tulips and daffodils, summer sessions with sunflowers and zinnias, autumn arrangements with rich dahlias and seasonal foliage.
What makes these workshops special isn't just the beautiful arrangements guests create—it's the combination of learning something new, connecting with others, and experiencing the magic that happens when local businesses support each other.
"Partnering with Painted Horse has been a huge opportunity for my business," Anna shares. "The committed customers of the winery are new faces for me, so the workshops are a way to reach a brand new circle of flower lovers."
